The Ass and His Purchaser
驴子和买驴子的人
A man ished to purchase an Ass, and agreed ith its oner that he should try out
the animal before he bought him. He took the Ass home and put him in the stra-yard ith his other Asses, upon hich the ne animal left all the others and at once joined the one that as most idle and the greatest eater of them all. Seeing this, the man put a halter on him and led him back to his oner.
On being asked ho, in so short a time, he could have made a trial of him, he ansered, I do not need a trial; I kno that he ill be just the same as the one he chose for his panion.
一个人想要买一头驴子，他和卖主讲好在正式买之前先把驴子牵回去看看，他把驴牵到自己的驴马之中，并让他站在马槽 前。那驴子来到一头好吃懒做的驴子旁边。于是，买驴的人立刻给那头驴套上辔头，牵去还 给驴的卖主。
在卖主问到他为什么在这么短的时间里就对那驴子做出判定时，那人答道“我不需要判定，依我之见，选择什么样的朋友，自己也就什么样。”

这个故事告诉人们“物以类聚，人以群分”，所以选择朋友要慎重。
